While we dont recommend a particular brand of toothpaste, we always recommend toothpastes that contain the active medical ingredient of fluoride.

Flouride is a compound that contains fluorine, a naturally occurring element.

Extensive research has shown that using small amounts of fluoride (such as in toothpaste) on a routine basis helps prevent tooth decay as much as 60%.  It strengthens teeth to prevent bacterial acid to cause holes called cavities.  It is the most effective when combined with a healthy diet and good oral hygiene

The use of fluoridated toothpaste is often neglected and misunderstood. Fluoride toothpaste should be used on a regular basis for every child over the age of 2. Don't worry about your child swallowing the toothpaste.  The key is the amount of toothpaste used during each brushing.  More is NOT better.  Using a small smear or pea-size of fluoridated toothpaste is one of the most effective methods you can use to ensure that your child stays cavity-free.

You want to encourage spitting but swallowing the amount of fluoride in a smear of toothpaste will pose no harm to your child's health and can do wonders for protecting your child's teeth from cavities.

Remember, we recommend that parents should supervise their child's brushing until the age of 7 or when they can tie their own shoe.
